The flood
It was a cloudy Sunday, it seemed to be not a nice day but even that my family and I decided to go somewhere to eat and to have a nice afternoon. We called my aunts and cousins to invited them and they told us about a place where the food was excellent so we went there, it was a trout’s farm and you were able to choose the fish you wanted to eat. After we ate there was like a park where the people could go for a walk and we did the same, it was around the 3.00pm and the day was very cold. We were in touch with the nature having a good time but the weather was getting worse and it began to drizzle so we couldn’t continue and we decided it was time to return home.
Way home it started to rain more and we thought It would be only a rainy day but that changed, I looked at my clock and it was 6.00pm when we left my aunts and cousins in their home that is about 15 minutes of our home, at that time the rain and the wind were very strong and the streets began to flood because the strainers were drawing the water. We were not able to move all the cars were stopped, it was 7.00pm and we hadn’t had arrived to our home, we thought all of this was because the rain but it wasn’t, something terrible had happened… a pipe near our home was broken and all the water had spread through the neighborhood and that was the reason why the streets were flooded. With the notice we began to think that our house could be flooded so we decided to search a way to get to our home but it was a bad decision as my father was driving the level of the water began to increase and it started to enter the car so we returned and we found help in the supermarket where many people were having the same trouble that us. By this time it was 8.00pm and we wait there 5 hours!, in that time we heard from many people that the neighborhood was completely flooded and that nobody couldn’t pass.
It was late and we just wanted to see our house, the level of the water was lower so we could drive and found a way to arrive home. We finally arrived our neighborhood at 2.00am but we were not able to pass with the car and we were really scared about the house, the cars, our pets and the other things inside the house so we took the decision of walking through the water with all the trash it had, it was really awful because the water reached us in the middle of the thighs and it was all dirty. When we arrived to our house the first thing I did was to see my dogs and thanks god they were fine but we lost other things like a car, a washing machine, a tv and some furniture. The consequences of the flood lasted around one week and the neighborhood received the help of the government, now gradually we get back to normality.
It was a terrible day for many families but the experience taught me that we should appreciate all the things we have and be grateful.
